Dear Sir / Madam,

Twelve months ago my daughter purchased an Adina wristwatch as a gift for my birthday. Some two months later I lost the watch at my place of employment.

I am a Marine Engineer working in a rather inhospitable environment; amongst hot and dirty machinery. One night whilst carrying out starting procedure for a large diesel engine, and in somewhat of a hurry, I managed to strike my wrist – carrying the watch – on a protruding valve. Speed was of the essence therefore it was not until later I deduced that I must have dislodged the watch at the same time as striking my wrist.

I had long given the watch up for lost, as subsequent searches revealed nothing amongst the filthy bilge spaces. Therefore I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call two days ago from one of my colleagues to say that he had found the elusive timepiece.

It has been living in a three thousand kilowatt engine room for about ten months now, subjected to various undesirables such as distillate oil, grease, lube oil, sea water, dirt, heat and various chemicals.

Well, that's the bad news for the good news; it has kept perfect time and the date is correct.

Congratulations, thanks for a good watch.

I have taken it to the Jewellers where purchased, they said it could be ultra sound cleaned and a new band fitted. So I am. Looking forward to a long, renewed second life with it.

Yours sincerely
David
